After all – it’s too cold outside to enjoy it. However, there are a few things you can do this winter to prepare your outdoor lighting for warmer temperatures.

Clean the Fixtures

Clean fixtures not only look better, but they also cast light better. Make sure the power to these lights is cut off before removing the bulb. Wipe away any dirt, grime, or even dead insects that accumulated. This is an important step to ensure that your outdoor lighting design looks great and works efficiently.

Reposition the Lights

The winter freeze may have changed the positioning of your lights. As we move towards the big thaw, go around your property and make sure that all of your outdoor fixtures are positioned the way they should be. This ensures that the light is illuminating what you want to illuminate. Additionally, incorrect positioning of your fixtures can cause damage to your lighting.

Add Timers

If your outdoor lighting is not already set on a timer, now is a great time to install one. Plug timers or  programmable switches are two popular ways to accomplish this. Having your lights on a timer means that you don’t have to worry about remembering to turn them on and off. This can save money on energy, and ensure that your front yard is always looking gorgeous when the sun goes down.

Upgrade You Porch Lights
